Devotion based on Genesis 2:7

is that dirt in your hand, God? What are you doing with that? Aren't you afraid you're going to get dirty, kneeling down in the dust like that and working with clay?

What are you making? It looks like . . .it looks like a person. It is a person! But, no, it isn't. It's just a statue of a person. It's not alive, because it doesn't move.

What are you doing now, God? It looks like you're breathing into that clay person. You are! And look . . . now the clay person is alive!

I hope that the clay person will always remember where it came from--the dust; and that the only thing that makes it special is its breath that came from you.

John 6:1-13

Feeding of the 5,000

Jesus and his disciples were looking for food and there was a boy--probably your age, it could have been you. And the boy had some sandwiches and two fish with him. And he went up to Jesus and said: "you can have my lunch."

Would you have done that? Would you have given your lunch to Jesus?

Do you think the little boy was surprised when Jesus took his five sandwiches and two little fish?

And what do you think the surprise was like when Jesus disciples--after Jesus blessed the food-- started to pass it out . . . and out . . .and out . . .and out . . . and everybody ate and there were still leftovers?

You just never know what Jesus can do when people share.

Praise and Worship

Psalm 66:1: "Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands . . ."

What noises sound happy to you? Maybe people laughing, singing, clapping their hands and making music? Can you think of a few more sounds people make when they are joyful? All over the world people know how to make sounds of joy.

You Can be joyful in church too, you know? When you think about how special God is and about his goodness and love for us, it makes us happy. God gives us reason to sing and laugh, clap our hands and make music. And as we do these things God can hear them from heaven and he will be pleased by our praise and worship.

How many of you have garden's? To make a garden grow there is a lot of work to do isn't there? What kind of things do you have to do to make a garden grow? Let's see...work the soil; plant the seed; spray the plants; and harvest it. That's a lot of work. Well, there was a man that thought it was just too much work for him to grow a garden anymore. He knew all his neighbors grew a garden so why not just take from theirs. One night he set out to do just that. He took his little girl along and told her to stand watch and let him know if any one saw him. So he went to the first garden and began gathering the vegetables. His little girl yelled, "Daddy someone sees you!" He looked around and saw no one so he continued gathering. He moved on to the next neighbors garden and did the same. His little girl yelled, "Daddy someone sees you!" He looked around and saw no one. On the way back home and in their car he said to his little girl, "why did you say someone saw me,I didn't see anyone?" She said, "yes Daddy Jesus saw you." So no matter if you are doing good things or bad things Jesus is always watching you. "So let's always try to do good things. This makes Jesus happy."

One day Jesus was very mad at the world so there was a man whos name was Noah and loved god and worshiped him. God asked Noah to bild an Ark. So Noah bilt the Ark so he did. It rained 4 40th days and 40th nights. After a while Noah sent a dove to see if the water was going down. The Dove came later and was coming with a little branch in its mouth. So as you know God sent a rainbow to let the people know that there will never be a flood that big.

The porcupines were unaware of the curse that had been placed on them. An evil one hid a thorn among their quills. When they bunped into each other the thorn pushed in a little more and hurt a little more. They accused each other. "You spiked me." "No I didn't - you spiked me" and so the arguments went on. Finally one little porcupine responded differently to the accusation. Rather than saying "No I didn't" he asked the angry one "Where does it hurt?" On looking closer he could see the thorn and pulled it out. He told everyone to respond with "Where does it hurt?" and gradually they beat the curse by pulling out the thorns and caring for one another. Hope this helps for a hurting and angry world. On Tuesday night during a child’s prayer, Jesus entered the room. Now you might think that the child would be frightned but the peace of Jesus was in that room. The child knew that Jesus had come in answer to prayer. The Child asked Jesus “ Why did those men make the planes crash?” “My dear Child, Jesus answered God gives us all choices. your mommy and Daddy give you choices. Sometimes you make Good choices and sometimes you make bad choices. These men made very bad choices. God wants you to know that these men made something very bad happen but God wants to make good happen The Child then asked, “How can I help? “ Remember the words that I told you long ago,” answered Jesus. “Love your enemies, Pray for those that are mean to you. Treat others the way you want to be treated.” Let us pray and light a candle and Thank God for answering our prayers. Let us ask God to bring peace to our world, to help the people who are sad to feel better and to make everyone make better choices.

GET COMFRONTABLE NOT KNOWING Their was once a village that had among it a very wise old man. The villagers trusted this man to provide them answers to their questions and concerns. One day a farmer in this village went to this man and said in a frantic tone, "wise man help me, My ox has died and I have no animal to help me plow my field! Isn’t that the worst thing that could have possible happened! The wise old man replied “maybe so maybe not”. The farmer ran back to the village and told the villagers that the wise old man had gone mad. Surely this was the worst thing that could have happened, why couldn’t the man see this? The very next day, a strong young horse was seen near the mans farm. Because the man had no ox to rely on he decided to catch the horse to replace the ox he had lost. And he did and how joyful the farmer was. Plowing his felid had never been easier. The farmer went back to the wise old man to apologies. “you were right” said the farmer “losing my ox wasn’t the worst thing that could have happened. It was a blessing in disguise. I would have never captured my new horse had my ox been healthy. You must agree this is the best thing that could have happened. The wise man replied once again “maybe so maybe not”. Again, the farmer ran back to town and told the townspeople the wise old man had gone mad. A few days later, the farmer’s son was riding the horse and was thrown off. He broke his leg and would not be able to help harvest the crop. “oh no” said the man “now we will starve to death”. So the man went back to see the wise old man, he said, “you were right again, how did you know that this was going to happen. You have to admit that this is the worst thing that could have happened. And once again the wise old man replied “maybe so, maybe not”. Enraged that the wise man could be so ignorant, the farmer stormed back to the village. A few days later troops arrived to take every able-bodied man to a war that had just broke out. The farmer’s son was the only boy in the village who didn’t have to go. Listen to God, Sit quietly, spend time searching your heart and listening to His answers, His wisdom, His truth. Thank you LORD for quiet time that we spend with you. A time for our soul to rest in you, let our mind relax and refocus on you LORD. You are God and we are not. Take me by the hand and teach me your ways. Your ways are so different than the world’s perspective and view. Your ways are perfect. The world stumbles over the truth and has fallen, we do our own thing, follow our own desires, follow our will for our life instead of listening to you LORD. We wander for years in the desert, not understanding, and choosing other paths that do not lead to you. You gave us free will, you allow us to fail and make mistakes, we are not perfect and we need you. Your path leads to the truth all other paths lead to lies and destruction. The path of truth is filled with precious stones of love, righteousness, mercy, grace, light, joy, faith, hope, goodness, forgiveness, trust, patience, gentleness, kindness, laughter, songs in our heart, music, praises, dancing and the wonders of you. The sky is filled with a rainbow of colors, you renew us with a breath of fresh air, the mountains and oceans speak of your presence, the flowers and trees express the beauty in your eyes, a sunrise and sunset describe your newness each day. Christ is like a rope. A rope is used to save people from drowning or to save people from falling off cliffs. Jesus is the rope to save you from falling. Grab hold, believe, have faith. You may not feel like you deserve to be saved, Christ loves you anyway and he holds out the rope to those who choose to take hold of it.

One day there was a little girl plying outside with her baby brother. The baby started whining and hollering all of a sudden and he was looking over at a tree really strangly. The girl went over to check it out and see what was there. She walked up slowly to the tree and didn't see anything the matter with it so shre went to sit back down. Then out of nowhere came this young boy,the boy told the girl to take the baby and go inside of the house. The girl thought this was really strange but she was scared so she did as the boy told her to. As soon as the girl got inside the tree crashed down to the ground right in the spot that they were playing in. So my point is that god makes himself appear in many ways and you should put your trust in him forever so make your choice today. Like in this story the baby and the boy that came up and told her to go inside were a form of god telling her to get to safety. By:Me
