LUKE 7:1-10-FAITH & HEALING

There are other healing accounts that bring out a connection between faith and healing; what is remarkable about this story is that the person who exhibits faith is not the one receiving a healing, but rather the person he requests a healing for.

PSALM 96-A CALL TO WORSHIP IN PSALMS

This psalm falls into the genre of Entrance Liturgies and lends itself beautifully to a call of worship. It moves from calling the believers to sing praises unto the LORD; establishing the LORD as the only real God. All families are summoned to worship the LORD in his Kingly splendor. The imagery invoked is that of the royal court.

GALATIANS 1:1-12-NO OTHER GOSPEL

In the opening chapter of Galatians, Paul establishes the source of his authority referencing it with a revelation from God, presumably going back to his experience on the Damascus Road as described in the book of Acts, chapter 9:1-19; and retold in Acts 22:6-21 and Acts 26:12-18. the apostle is concerned about two versions of the gospel, the one he preached to the Galatians and the one told by the "Judaizers" that had apparently become influential.

1 KINGS 18:20-39-GOD'S PROVISIONS

This is one of the stories we remember from Sunday School, where Elija challenges the Baal priests to a showdown of God's in dramatic fashion. A bull is prepared on the altar, whichever prophet can pray down fire from the sky to light up the offering will be established as the true prophet whose God is the one true God.
